This one’s for you, Mike.

“It’s great to be out here with friends shooting a match, telling stories, laughing, but still always trying to be the best. This is Mike, this is how he’ll always be remembered.” -Maggie Reese-Voigt

Michael has been a member of the Safariland family for nearly 30 years. He not only shot competitively for Team Safariland but also played an active role in R&D. Michael was President of the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) from 2000 to 2012. After 12 years leading USPSA, he returned to fully devoting his time and talents to advancing the firearms industry. As a trainer he worked elite military and law enforcement forces around the world. He has been a friend and mentor to many of us and has always been there to coach or help anyone along the way.

Michael was a legend, a visionary, a loyal friend and a part of the family. His passing has left a void in this community that will not soon be filled.

For his family here at Safariland, the best way for us to properly pay tribute to Michael was to honor him at the Safariland Expedition Multi-Gun Match 2018. Michael was instrumental in planning our first Safariland Expedition, so this year, our entire match was a tribute to him.

Special to this year we offered the Michael Voigt Memorial Pistol Match. It was hard to miss the 25 shooters in matching white shirts who signed up to compete. Each jersey donned Voigt’s name, with Mike’s wife Maggie Reese-Voigt in jersey #1.

Even now Michael continues to bring people together, and we couldn’t think of a better way for us to pay our respects to such a talented man. This was for you Mike, you are truly missed.

“It meant a lot to us that we pulled this together for our buddy Michael. It is not very often Team Safariland is all together, but everyone came out for this special event to honor our team mate and friend. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me to have our team together plus so many good friends to hang out, tell stories and shoot this event. We are all here for you for Maggie.” -Scott Carnahan, VP/GM and Director of Team Safariland

Team Safariland Remembers Michael

“Not only an incredible practitioner, Mike is one who embodied great qualities as a person too. In every conversation with him you could expect three things. Honesty, incredible knowledge based on experience and proven results, and finally he’d always make you smile and laugh. I am grateful for not only what he gave to the shooting sports, but for the wonderful way he did it.” Julie Golob, Team Safariland

“Mike was not only the best 3 gun shooter in history, and super pistol shot, he was a great guy and ambassador for the shooting industry. He will be missed greatly.” Doug Koenig, Team Safariland

“He will be missed, immeasurably, by all of us who were fortunate to have had him shine on our lives.” -Kippi & Rob Leatham, Team Safariland
