Safariland Service Bulletin for Bianchi Models 82, 83, 84 and 4584 Manufactured before February 2010

February 01, 2011

Safariland would like to notify Bianchi holster customers of the need to inspect the Bianchi Models 82, 83, 84 and 4584 holsters for possible loose or undersized dowel pins in the housing system.  This issue potentially affects those Bianchi holsters of the identified models that were produced before February 2010.  Our testing of holsters shows that the handgun will insert and draw even without the dowel pin.  Nevertheless, we are asking our customers to inspect their Bianchi holster for any signs of this issue.  A visual inspection of the dowel pin is required as shown on the attached pdf.

The dowel pin should be seated inside the molded housing with no signs of movement. The locking system should move freely and the handgun should holster in a locked position and draw without sticking upon release of the lever. If the handgun does not insert into the holster, or becomes locked or sticks in the holster during draw, immediately contact the Safariland Customer Care Department at (800) 347-1200 or (909) 923-7300.

If your Bianchi holster exhibits a loose or undersized dowel pin as shown in the picture attached, immediately contact the Safariland Customer Care Department at (800) 347-1200 or (909) 923-7300.

It is the user’s responsibility to periodically inspect their holster, any related hardware and handgun and for proper fit and function. Any signs of excessive wear or loss of retention of the handgun in any holster should be addressed immediately. If any problem is detected or if the holster is loose, broken or ill-fitting, CEASE USE IMMEDIATELY and contact the Safariland Customer Care Department.
