Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for I'm a competition shooter and go through 10,000 plus rounds, and spend hundreds of hours wearing hearing protection each year. The performance of the electronics in this headset are far and away the best in the industry. Where other systems leave me listening to gravel crunching and wind blowing these allow me to hear people talking and things I need to hear. The comfort with the gel seals is unbelievable, battery life is excellent, and they're truly waterproof. Bottom line, they're expensive but worth it if you're a serious shooter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable, comfortable and works I've had the DEHP ear pro for over two years and they've held up well in a variety of weather conditions and always work as promised. With the gel ear seals they're very comfortable. I've used them for full day classes, bird hunting and misc loud jobs around the house. They're lighter, more comfortable and provide a better ear seal than the other electronic ear pro that I've tried. I prefer to run them with a pair of ear plugs and volume turned up so I can hear range commands, but still get excellent noise attenuation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very durable and reliable To: TCI From: Rogers Shooting School November 19, 2015 Dear TCI We just finished our 2015 season at the Rogers Shooting School in Ellijay, Georgia. At the end of our 2014 season we purchased 6 of your Liberator II Tactical headsets (combination digital hearing protection and communication) and 12 of your DEHP digital hearing protection headsets. We bought the PTT com headsets for the instructors and the digital hearing sets for our students. Over the 40 years of operating the Rogers Shooting School, we have used many different brands of hearing protection. We only work outside and in all weather conditions. We issue electronic ear protection to the students so that they can hear the range commands without having to have a PA system. The headsets loaned to the students take a serious beating, as would any gear that is not actually owned by the user. Over the years our biggest problem was keeping the digital head sets working. Moisture from rain and the shooter’s perspiration and impact from dropping became our greatest reason for failure. The DEHP headsets performed all year without any failures. The automatic shut off feature saved us a ton in replacement batteries. We normally have to replace about 25 percent of headsets each year. The fact that all of the DEHP headsets were working flawlessly at the end of the season meant that we saved a considerable amount of money. The Liberator II Tactical com headsets proved to be the best purchase the school has made in gear. To be able to discreetly communicate with other instructors in the middle of a shooting scenario adds several layers of safety and improved instruction not available without having individual communication among the instructors. The Liberator II proved to be comfortable and reliable. Again we had no failures all year long. Another great advantage was being able to communicate from the range to our maintenance shop 200 yards away. The sets proved to save us time and physical exertion. In closing I would say that I was impressed with the function and reliability of the TCI product. After using the Tactical coms headset for our instructors, I would never go back to non-com headsets. I would highly recommend the TCI product to any company or agency that is involved in teaching firearm skills. Sincerely; William H. Rogers, owner and chief instructor, Rogers Shooting School

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reilable, Durable and Comfortable This is good, solid ear protection that I've enjoyed for more than a year so far. It looks similar to other hearing protection, but this hasn't wet the bed on me, as others have. The behind-the-head band allows for excellent use in conjunction with my Ops-Core FAST Ballistic Helmet. And it's comfortable -- as comfortable as wearing a helmet and hearing protection all day can be, anyway. TCI explained to me when I bought these that they're infinitely serviceable and upgradable, which is a plus. And the gel replacements are worth the extra expense. At the range, I wear inside-the-ear hearing protection underneath the DEHP, but there's not a lot of room under the cups. So you may have to experiment to find your happy medium. The only thing keeping me from rating this five stars is the cost. It's a bit steep, but these are also the best magic ears I've ever used. In summary, these are reliable, durable and day-long comfortable electronic hearing protection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfied but room for improvement Behind the head style of this product purchased a month ago. Worn during deer hunting season in New York State including in very windy, snowy, sleety and rainy conditions. They worked fairly well through wind, rain and snow elements. For myself, hearing subtle ambient sounds while hunting in the woods is the most desired/important feature of electronic hearing protection, I would rate this feature about a 7 out of 10. The ears work well for low ambient sounds within close proximity but seem to be lacking in picking up the subtle/low ambient distant sounds ... such as deer or other animal movements.... especially with a little wind in the background. The wind sounds aren't over-powering but becomes somewhat of a constant that drowns out the subtle/low ambient sounds. Not always, but I encountered some disorientation issues with sounds and their location, having to take the headset off a few times to check - the situational awareness is okay but not great. Overall I am convinced nothing compares to the ability of our own ears. The separately purchased gel ear seal kit should be standard, the ones that come with the headset are skimpy and at least appear to have much less noise reduction ability, I was going to return the TCI headset unit until I tried on the gel ear seals (huge difference in comfort and reduction in noise (at least perceived)). I also had to add/stick-on a small piece of rubber to the bottom of my right side muff so my rifle stock did not bang on the plastic muff piece when readying to aim/shoot. I like the long battery life - especially when comparing to the hearing aid type products on the market. I am generally satisfied, these are substantially better than my old electronic Peltor's and I am not sure the $300 to $4,000 in-ear hearing-aid like devices would perform any better or enough to justify the cost premium.
