MIL-SPEC Break Free CLP Liquid Now Available
Gold standard solution exceeds the MIL-PRF-63460E(4) military test standards

ONTARIO, California – Break Free®, a brand of The Safariland Group, today announced availability of the new MIL-SPEC Break Free® CLP® formula for firearms. The CLP “one-step” cleaning, lubricating and protectant firearm solution was originally developed for military use under what was seen at the time as a nearly impossible specification. To meet this new specification, the formula underwent rigorous laboratory and live-fire testing over an extended period. Now, with its enhanced formula, the world-renowned CLP liquid is ready for sale. Break Free products will be on display at the 2018 SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor and Trade) Show, January 23 to 26, booth #12762.

“Military units demand the highest level of firearm performance in the most challenging environments,” said James Imhoff, vice president, general manager for Safariland. “Built on a quality reputation spanning four decades, CLP is a product that’s been known to the market as the ‘gold standard’ formula, and after many years on the original MIL-SPEC list, we’re pleased to see Break Free CLP formula on the U.S. Department of Defense qualified product list [MIL-PRF-63460E(4) military test standards].”

Proven to perform in temperatures ranging from -65˚ F to +475˚ F even after saltwater immersion, CLP solutions are manufactured from the highest-quality polymerized synthetic oils plus friction reducing anti-wear additives. Designed to clean, lubricate, and preserve firearms in extreme environments, Break Free CLP not only lubricates, but also, cleans firing residue and other contaminates from the bore and moving parts.

The unique formulation of the CLP formula protects and preserves metal. It penetrates and spreads along metal surfaces to undercut contamination and lift residue away. Its long-lasting lubricating film dramatically reduces adhesion of sand, grit or other abrasives. The corrosion inhibitors prevent the formation of rust while Break Free’s unique boundary film protects metal surfaces from moisture and other contaminants. Most importantly, the military’s specification means that the synthetic oils won’t lose viscosity, dry out or stiffen up in extreme environments – such as cold, heat, dust, dirt, humidity and even salt air – keeping equipment in ready condition for months at a time.

In addition to the military, Break Free CLP and the entire line of products is used by gun enthusiasts, competitive shooters and the law enforcement community throughout the world. The Mil-Spec CLP liquid is available beginning first quarter 2018. For more information, please visit www.safariland.com/break-free.
