SAVE #1825, Officer Shawn Naval – California Highway Patrol Oakland CA

On January 20, 2010, officers from several agencies responded to a robbery in progress at a Wal- greens Store in Oakland, CA. Officer Shawn Naval, from the CHP, and his partner moved to cover the rear of the store and encountered the suspect as he was exiting the back of the store. A gun fight ensued fatally wounding the suspect. Officer Naval was hit seven times including once directly in the chest area covered by his armored vest and several times outside the armor’s coverage area in his hip and legs.

Luckily, Officer Naval’s Second Chance® Armor stopped the 9mm caliber round that struck his chest. Officer Naval continues to recover and hopes to return to full duty soon.

We welcome Officer Shawn Naval – Save #1825 to the Safariland SAVES Club.
