Model 6006 ALS® Guard is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enhances an already great holster retention system I've got a couple of ALS holsters. By itself the ALS system will keeping my firearm IN the holster during dynamic, physical activities while not interfering with my natural draw. However as much as I like it, by itself it is not enough. It's just too natural to grab and draw. Enter the ALS Guard: It adds a 2nd level of retention, without the profile of the hood guard and the complication of the Sentry Self locking system. With a little practice, it is NO different to operate, but boy is it fun during "weapon safety and retention" drills.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but consider the 6008 model Any ALS guard is a good idea because it add retention and prevents unwanted attempts to removed your sidearm. HOWEVER...Sitting/standing up often cause your soft armor to deactivate 6006 ALS guard just like it does with an SLS without a hood guard. Notice how veteran often cops habitually reach down and re-activate their SLS hood as then stand up from a chair. It's a good habit but get the 6008 model and it stops that problem. It does have value: I do prefer this model for casual days. If I'm working the desk or in training, meetings, etc, I don't want the extra size of the 6008 model. I have this one mounted on a 7390 for "casual" days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes the System I have little confidence with the ALS retention system taken on its own: at least with my pistol (G31), I’ve found it too easy to bump and wiggle the lever open to trust my life to it at the moment of truth. If you must use an ALS-only holster (why?), the ALS guard greatly enhances the system without interfering with the natural drawing motion. Think of the ALS guard as an ALS/SLS combo holster with less retention but a more natural draw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safariland 7378 and ALS Guard I bought a Safariland 7378 for concealed carry of my Glock 19. The holster is great, just rides a bit low for concealed carry. I did a 7378 holster review on Safarilands website which notes how I brought the holster ride up higher. The Automatic Locking System feature of the 7378 holster is just excellent. It provides Level I active retention for the weapon. I also purchased the Safariland 6006 ALS guard which increases the active retention to Level II. The ALS guard works great as does the ALS itself! Great product engineering! I also bought a Safariland 7371 for my Glock 43 and I absolutely love that as well. I use the 568 (larger than the 571) paddle on each holster. The paddle is comfortable and secure. I would like to see Safariland design an ALS Guard for the 7371 also. I plan on purchasing Safariland ALS holsters for all my carry guns. Thanks for great products Safariland!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 7TS Duty rig I have used both Blackhawk Level III and three different Safariland, 6000 series, Level III holsters on duty over the past 8 years. The only thing the Blackhawk had to offer me was the fast drawn due to the low friction gained by the holster material. I was always a little sketched out in a duty situation with regard to weapon retention. In past training I had a panic draw and drew right past the Blackhawk secondary retention mechanism (trigger guard lock) with no activation. With the new Safariland 7TS I have the best of both worlds. The draw is fast, smooth and consistent. Plus I get the added benefit of having the best weapon retention system on the market. I have no worries going hands on compared to the times I did so with the B.H. Serpa. I have since purchased an additional 7TS for a different kit. Can't wait until a light bearing version is released for my HK. Thanks, David

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BUY THIS NOW!!!! If you have an ALS holster without a hood, you NEED this! It adds the extra security of the locking hood but without changing the appearance. It uses the same thumb action so you don't need to learn a new one for each holster. I added one to both of my off-duty holsters. A great addition to an already great product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not fit with the 7378 7TS for subcompacts Does not fit with the 7378 7TS for the Glock 43. The website said "this fits your holster." It does not. After emailing and sending photos, the helpful representative finally got me an answer from the research and development department: "The ALS lever on the new subcompact holsters for the 7TS for the G43, XDS, Shield, etc all have the new triangular ALS lever and the ALS guard does not fit." Had to return the $16 part which is almost not worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functions Great! ALS Guard. I purchased and installed this on my 6378 for my SIG. It is high quality and well made. It functions as designed. As with all carry devices you must allocate the necessary time and training to become proficient.
