Counterfeit Body Armor Identified by Florida Department of Law Enforcement

ONTARIO, California –The Safariland Group has been notified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) regarding counterfeit body armor vests that have been confiscated in an investigation in the southeastern United States. Among the numerous vest models seized, the ABA® and Second Chance® brands were identified among the several counterfeit brands
being offered for sale at gun shows.

“We are cooperating with the FDLE in their efforts to remove counterfeit vests from the marketplace,” said Glenn Katz, Vice President, Sales & Marketing for The Safariland Group. “These counterfeit vests are not legitimate ABA or Second Chance vests and should not be worn for ballistic protection. As a company that is committed to saving lives, we only provide products that have been tested and verified to meet the protection requirements as specified on the manufacturer’s label as approved by the NIJ.”

Genuine ABA and Second Chance vests are sold only by authorized ABA and Second Chance dealers or distributors that re-sell the vests to sworn or licensed law enforcement or corrections officer, security or emergency response personnel, or U.S. military. If you purchased a vest at a gun show and not from an authorized dealer or distributor, the vest may potentially be counterfeit.
