GLOCK Gen4 Beavertail Back Strap - Holster Service Bulletin

Safariland® Duty Gear Service Bulletin

Re: GLOCK Gen4 Beavertail Back Strap - Holster Service Bulletin

Recently, GLOCK introduced optional beavertail back straps for their Gen4 pistol packages (see Pic A). Since the beavertail-style back straps protrude outward from the frame (see Pic B), use of the beavertail back strap can impede locking of the rotating hood on SLS holster models.

HOLSTER ADVISORY
Safariland® advises users that GLOCK beavertail back straps should not be used with any of the following Safariland holster / GLOCK gun combinations as such modification will impact the locking mechanism of the SLS.

Safariland holsters are designed for firearms based on their original factory specifications. The slightest change in handgun dimensions can greatly affect the close tolerance of Safariland Duty Gear products. Modification of the handgun, including use of grip accessories, can cause improper holster fit. Although the beavertail back straps are now provided by GLOCK, it is important for users to understand that using beavertail back straps represents a modification from the
factory specifications for which the holsters were designed.

Consumer safety information is included in the Safariland printed Order Guide, on the Safariland.com/dutygear website and is included with the holster instructions. As instructed, users are responsible for periodically checking the holster for fit and function. NEVER USE A HOLSTER WITHOUT FIRST TESTING FOR PROPER FIT. If users have any concerns about the proper fit or function of the holster, cease use immediately and contact The Safariland Group Customer Care.
