Safariland announced today the recent sale of Safariland®/Kona 29er patrol bikes to replace a Los Angeles area law enforcement agency’s current fleet of patrol bikes. After much consideration and the opportunity to test the 29er bike, the agency selected the Safariland/Kona 29er as the most suitable patrol bike for their rigorous daily operational needs.

Safariland® Supports Project 999 Memorial Ride
Safariland® salutes Project 999 Memorial Ride participants for cycling 630 miles from the California State Peace Officer Memorial in Sacramento to the Peace Officer Memorial in Tustin, CA on May 24 – 28. Project 999, a non-profit fundraiser supervised by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (CA), provides financial support to the families of fallen officers injured or killed in the line of duty. Every May, officers from different agencies throughout Orange County come together for this Memorial Ride to commemorate the lives of these officers. This year, Safariland sponsored the Orange County Sheriff’s department with team jerseys for participating officers.

Safariland/Kona Team Members excel at XTERRA World Championships Now on Air
Safariland® announced today that Team Safariland members Dave and Jodi Ruby, multi triathlon-champions, competed on their Kona® 29er bikes at the 2012 XTERRA World Championships which will be televised on several stations throughout the US from March through June. Dave Ruby was on the podium as the first American male to victory and placed fifth place overall in the male 50-54 division while Jodi also stood on the podium placing fifth overall in the female 50-54 division.

Safariland® Save Sgt. Randy Crowther Represents Safariland in 2012 Police Unity Tour
JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Safariland, a BAE Systems line of business, is pleased to announce that Sergeant Randy Crowther of the Orem, UT Police Department, and a member of the Safariland® Saves Club®, represented Safariland in the 2012 Police Unity Tour.
Crowther, riding his Safariland/Kona Patrol Bike 29er, left Somerset, NJ with a small group of 300 other officers from the Western United States for the first leg of the tour. This group was part of a much larger assembly of law enforcement officer cyclists who were making the ride to Washington, DC to take part in the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Foundation (NLEOMF) ceremony.

Safariland®/Kona® Patrol Bike Team Participates In 24 Hours at Old Pueblo
Safariland®, a BAE Systems business, participated in the 13th annual Kona® Bikes 24 Hours of Old Pueblo with its new Safariland/Kona Patrol Bike 29er. Held in Tucson, Arizona on February 17-19, 2012, this event is described as the largest 24-hour mountain biking event in the United States. Safariland’s involvement in the ride was focused on testing their law enforcement Patrol Bike to see just how well the 29er would do against the rough and rugged desert environment.
