OFFICER CHARLES WREN
On July 2, 2012 officers were dispatched to a report of a man with a gun in a
residence located in Memphis, TN. When they arrived, they found that the
suspect had moved from the residence to the nearby intersection of Baron and
Getwell. The suspect was armed with a shotgun and officers approached, giving
numerous orders for the suspect to drop the weapon. The assailant instead
opened fire, striking Officer Charles Wren with numerous shot pellets on his right
side. Officers returned fire wounding the assailant and were able to take him into
custody. Officer Wren was taken to the hospital where his ABA
®
BR01 armor was
discovered to have successfully stopped all the shotgun pellets that hit the right
side of the vest in the torso area.
