Safariland Shooting School - Handgun I
Learn the basics of becoming a first-rate shot
The Safariland Shooting School’s Handgun I is an eight-hour course designed to lay the groundwork and foundation for the student to learn more advanced techniques at a later date. Unlike most courses of this type, each student gets intensive one-on-one instruction. Students are trained to operate their handgun with maximum efficiency in a combat shooting situation, focusing on speed and accuracy, and stress at all times.

Course Overview
To train officers for success under real-life conditions, the baseline skills of each student are determined by a minimum qualification course. Each course in the Safariland Shooting School is designed to challenge and improve the students skill. Each student will have the opportunity for one-on-one instruction, starting with a personal skills evaluation. This allows the instructor and student to form a personalized lesson plan that the student will then be able to follow toward the goal of improving strengths, and eliminating weaknesses. Two instructors will be present at each class, so plenty of trigger time and one-on-one instruction is the rule, not the exception.
The course will increase your overall skill set using an array of Action Target Internationals reactive steel targets. Students will refine skills needed for stance, smooth drawing of service handgun, presentation, trigger control, sighting, basic movement, reloads, reholstering safely and proper grip. At the completion of the course, students will be tested again to measure performance, and earn certification from passed to the highly advanced Level III rating.
